Evaluation: GPA and CGPA

  1. The GPA of a student’s performance is the weighted average of the grades he/she obtains in the two terms of the academic year. It is calculated as follows:

Total score of

  1. CGPA: CGPA is the weighted average of the grades obtained by the student during the last academic period

 

Dates of Mid-term and Final exams

  1. The mid-term exam is held in each term, and its date is set in the Academy’s calendar, in the seventh lecture in the two main terms and the summer semester.
  2. The final exam is held in the last week of each term and according to a schedule issued by the Faculty Dean. In emergency cases that require the advancement of the specified date of a course exam, the approval of the faculty Dean is required, provided that the advancement is not for more than one week.

 

The duration of both the mid- and final-semester exams

The duration of each of the mid-term and final exams of the semester is set at two hours each. A period of 3 hours is set for testing external students and students with a decision by the Faculty Board to have the final exam out of 70% for their mid-term exam absence with an acceptable excuse.

 

Distribution of grades for each course

For each academic course, (100) one hundred marks are allocated and distributed as follows:

  1.  (70) seventy marks for the exams distributed as follows:
  1. (30) thirty marks for the midterm exam.
  2. (40) forty marks for the final exam, and for the success of the student, he/she must obtain 25% of the final exam score.
  1. (30) thirty marks for semester work, including at least the following types of assessment, according to the nature of each academic course:
  1. Oral and written exams.
  2. Reports, research and additional readings.
  3. Laboratory experiments, research and field trips.
  4. Course’s weekly or monthly duties

 

The obligation to re-register in the compulsory courses in which the student fails

 

The student must re-register in the compulsory course or courses in which he/she fails, provided that his/her academic transcript (certificate of grades) will record this failure and the course grade he/she obtained after repeating the course in the semester in which he/she succeeded in.

 

Conditions for obtaining an honors degree

 

An honors degree is granted to a student who obtains a CGPA of no less than (3.7) points upon graduation. To obtain an honors degree, the following are required:

  1. The student must have studied at least 75% of the graduation requirements at the faculty, and not have failed in any of the courses he/she studied in the college.
  2. The student must have completed graduation requirements within a period not exceeding four years after excluding registration stopping periods.
